Every year over the Columbus Day weekend,  you can tour the Blacstone Valley visiting historical sites in MA & RI.  2010 marks the Fifth Annual venture which will last the entire month of October:

  • 100 experiences throughout the Blackstone River Valley
  • 24 communities from Worcester, MA to  Providence, RI
  • 500 years of history, culture and the arts
  • We are doing a little twist this year.  Incorporating good old-fashioned fun with native american teachings.  What's going on at Sweetwilliam Farm over the Columbus Day Weekend:


    October 9-11th:
    Noon - 4pm, all three days

    Special Weekend Activities (Sat - Mon):
    Hay Wagon Rides - A 1/2 hour hay ride, runs on the hour (noon, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00)
    Wiki-up - 2:30pm - Children can help build a this hunting lodge made of sticks.

    Demonstrations:
    Butter Making
    Cider press, using an antique cider press
    Seed bead bracelet making
    Bone carving

    Mini Teachings (will be scheduled through out the weekend):
    Black Elk Medicine
    Medicine wheel and the four directions
    Crystals, meaning and powers of different crystals
    Prayer ties and the sacred fire 
    Pipe communication with the great spirit
    Smudging with sage
    Rocks talk, animal images can be found in rocks
    Animals speak, the meaning behind different animals
    Grounding

    Self-guided, ongoing activities:
    Pumpkin Carving & Decorating
    Apple Bobbing
    Local Crafters Vending
    Craft projects

    Fees associated with some activites:
    Hayride - $3.00 pp - A 1/2 hour hay wagon ride explores the hay fields and back woods of the property
    Pumpkins - $3.00 per pumpkin - Carve or dacorate your own halloween pumpkin creation, tools & crafts are supplied.
    Native American Teachings - Done by Grandmother Nancy, donation.
    Food: Beef burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, drinks & snacks available in the store.
