Native American Teachings:

June 26th: Animals Speak  (sorry post poned till July 24th)

Native people live so closely to nature that they once could converse with the animals.  We have learned valuable lessons and medicine from these creatures.  Come learn some of the lessons; eagle, wolf, hawk and more.

July 24th: Mystery of the Moon Lodge

What is the mystery of the moon lodge?  It is an ancient woman’s ceremony.  Modern society doesn’t look at things like the native woman did.  We need to share the teachings now, not only with women, but also with the men, who need to learn, understand and respect this beautiful ritual.  We will learn about the lodge itself, the gathering of cedar by the women and other things associated with the women’s teachings within the native tradition.

August 28th: Myth of the Sweat Lodge

In view of the horrific occurrence that happened in Arizona, people need to understand the true meaning of the sweat lodge purification ceremony. Ceremony not done in the proper and respectful way can lead to dreadful consequences.  Please come and share with us the respectful and honorable way in which these lodges need to be built and conducted.  We cannot learn from a book, what it took hundreds of years for our ancestors to perfect.

October 9th:  The Vision of Nicholas Black Elk (Lakota) and the Seven Prophecy o f the Algonquin People

Black Elk had a vision as a small boy which has been acclaimed all over the world.  The seven fire prophecies were told on a wampum belt prior to the coming of Columbus. Come learn about this incredible vision and the importance of the seven prophecies.

Time: 3-5pm.   Stop by any time, as the teachings are on-going

Teachings by: Grandmother Nancy, Native American story teller and educator.  Legally blind, and in her 70’s, this wonderful woman’s passion is to educate everyone about the Native American culture.

Donation: Suggested donation, $10, but no donation is too small.  All donations will help get Grandmother Nancy to Sundance.
